Exciting Announcement: New Chairman at Project Better Energy
Project Better Energy is delighted to declare the appointment of our new non-executive chairman, Volker Beckers. This marks a moment of great pride for us, given Mr Beckers’s extensive experience in the international energy industry, including his immeasurable work conducted at npower.
Volker Beckers brings decades of experience spanning the private and public sectors, as well as academia. Since 2013, he has held leadership roles in various private companies and served on the boards of government bodies such as HM Revenue & Customs and the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) Board. Additionally, he contributed as a member of the Advisory Board of the EU Centre for Energy and Resource Security (EUCERS) at King’s College and currently chairs the Advisory Board at the Erasmus Centre for Future Energy Business (ECFEB), a specialized research centre at Rotterdam School of Management.
This appointment signifies a ground-breaking milestone for Project Better Energy, as it reflects the persistent dedication of our company, and our CEO, Simon Peat, throughout the past 12 years. Our substantial growth is a direct result of the hard work and commitment of our talented team. From our origins as a business specialising in clean technology and heating solutions, primarily targeting the residential solar market, we have evolved into a green empire. Now, we integrate a diverse range of smart technologies, aimed at achieving a carbon net-zero future. Our expanded offerings include off-peak power storage, electric vehicle chargers, air-sourced hot water cylinders, infrared heaters, and solar solutions tailored for all residential and commercial environments.
Project Better Energy proudly houses a consortium of renewable energy entities, including Project Solar UK, Project EV and Project CÜRV. This strategic expansion has propelled Project Better Energy into a prominent position as one of the UK’s leading solar panel retailers, boasting the installation of nearly 40,000 solar energy systems. Notably, our Project EV division has achieved remarkable success, deploying over 80,000 electric vehicle chargers across residential, commercial, and public sectors, including collaborations with local councils, the NHS, and major retailers such as B&Q and Arnold Clarke.
Volker Beckers stated, “Project Better Energy has quickly grown into the UK’s largest solar panel retailer and is fast becoming a leading provider of EV systems and energy efficiency solutions as demand for these technologies has expanded significantly. Demand for these services will only grow further as businesses and organisations begin to ramp up initiatives aimed at meeting regulatory requirements.”
He continued, “Simon has built a talented and motivated team over the past twelve years, as well as a strong industry network and customer base, which will provide the foundation for the company’s next phase of growth and is underpinned by recent investment in the business. I look forward to working with the Board to provide the governance oversight and market insights to guide Project Better Energy as they realise the future vision for the business.”
Simon Peat, CEO of Project Better Energy, expressed his excitement, stating, “We are thrilled to welcome Volker as chairman at Project Better Energy as we reach this exciting inflection point for the company. His breadth of non-executive roles and multi-national experience built over many years will further enhance the capabilities and expertise of the board as we execute our ambitious growth strategy to provide a diverse range of clean technology and energy efficiency solutions across the UK.”
Project Better Energy takes immense pride in welcoming Volker Beckers as our new non-executive chairman, representing a pivotal moment in our journey. We extend our gratitude, recognising it as a testament to the hard work invested across the entire company. Together, we eagerly anticipate guiding Project Better Energy toward a future defined by continued growth and environmental stewardship.
